چکیده
The research work was planned on 120 unsexed day old broiler chicks, sixty each of Cari Vishal and Cobb broiler chicken to notice the effect on body weight gain and oocyst outputs against E. tenella infection. The effect of dosage of coccidial challenge was found to be significant (P<0.05) only at 4th week of age among treatment groups. The least squares mean (LSM) for body weight (g) differed significantly among two genetic groups from 0 to 8 week of age. Significantly (P<0.05) lower body weight gain was recorded in the birds of T2 group at 4 week of age as compared to control and T1. The difference was found to be significant in birds between control and T2 group from 5 th to 8th week of age, while it was non significant between T1 and T2 groups. The mean OPG was significantly (P<0.05) higher in Cobb birds than Cari-Vishal birds from days 5 to 9 post infection (pi). The mean OPG count was noticed significantly higher in Cobb as compared to Cari-Vishal. The mean OPG count of T1 and T2 groups differed significantly (P<0.05) at day 7, 8 and 9 pi in Cobb and at day 5, 6, 8 and 9 in Cari-Vishal while it was non-significant at days 5 and 6 pi in Cobb and day 7 in Cari-Vishal.

The effect of administration of anti-coccidial drugs on oocyst shedding and performance in experimental coccidiosis in broiler chickens
Abstract: Coccidiosis is one of the major parasitic diseases of poultry. In this study, to compare the effects of coccidiostatic drugs on fecal oocyst shedding and body weight gain of coccidi-infected broiler chickens, 180 one day old Ross 308 broiler chicks were randomly assigned to four treatments. Each treatment contained 3 replicates of 15 chickens. Treatments 1 and 2 were fed diets supplem...
متن کاملBroiler breeders with an efficient innate immune response are more resistant to Eimeria tenella.
In previous studies we characterized the innate immune response of 2 parental broiler lines (A and B) and compared their resistance against Salmonella, Enterococcus, and Campylobacter challenges. In all cases, line A was more responsive and more resistant than line B. In the present study, we sought to determine whether this trend was also observed following challenge with the protozoan parasit...
متن کاملProtection Efficacy of Multivalent Egg Yolk Immunoglobulin against Eimeria tenella Infection in Chickens
BACKGROUND To control avian coccidiosis with drug-independent strategy effectively and safely, multivalent hyperimmune egg yolk immunoglobulin (IgY) was prepared and its ability to protect against Eimeria tenella infection was evaluated. METHODS Hens were orally immunized with live oocysts of 5 species of Eimeria for six times, antibody titers in serum and yolk were monitored by indirect enzy...
متن کاملEvaluation of Kadaknath Chicken for Coccidial Resistance by Oocyst Count, Lesion Scoring and Oocyst Index in Eimeria Tenella Infection
The aim of present investigation was to study the virulence of coccidiosis in Kadaknath birds, experimentally infected with E. tenella by OPG count, oocyst index and caecal lesions scoring. Sixty one-day old unsexed Kadaknath birds were randomly divided into a control, T1 and T2 groups comprising twenty chicks under each group. At d 21 of age, birds of T1 and T2 groups were individually inocula...
متن کاملInduction of passive immunity in broiler chickens against Eimeria acervulina by hyperimmune egg yolk immunoglobulin Y.
The protective effect of hyperimmune IgY fraction of egg yolk prepared from hens hyperimmunized with multiple species of Eimeria oocysts on experimental coccidiosis was evaluated in young broilers. Chickens were continuously fed from hatch with a standard diet containing hyperimmune IgY egg yolk powder or a nonsupplemented control diet and orally challenged at d 7 posthatch with 5.0 x 10(3) spo...
